Amboy man arrested after stealing farm tractor from business

Lee County Sheriff's Police have arrested an Amboy man after a farm tractor was stolen from a business on Sunday. The incident also involved a number of street signs being damaged in the village.

31-year old Darrel Farringer has been charged with the felony offense of aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal damage to government supported property, and 2 counts of criminal damage to property. He was also charged with the misdemeanor offense of reckless driving.

Sheriff's police say that a Case IH 7210 was stolen from Vaessen Implement in Amboy on Sunday. Farringer told police he took the tractor at around 1am and drove in reverse to 126 South Davis Street in Amboy. The keys were left inside the tractor at the business.

On his way to the residence, the tractor struck several street signs along with the garage on South Davis Street where the vehicle was located.

Bond has been set at $10,000 for Farringer.

The Amboy resident was also wanted on a warrant in Vermilion County.

Farringer remains in the Lee County jail in lieu of bond.
