Memorial Day services in the area on Monday

Several Memorial Day services are scheduled Monday in the area as residents remember those individuals who have helped protect this country.

Activities in Rochelle begin at 10AM with a parade. It will start at City hall and move towards 6th Avenue. The parade then travels onto Lincoln Highway, Lincoln Avenue, and 9th street.

The route then goes to 8th Avenue as the parade comes to an end at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Rochelle.

The Memorial Day ceremony starts at 11AM at the Veterans Memorial. This year's guest speaker will be Rochelle attorney Bob Chadwick who attended the United States Air Force Academy, Class of 1970.

Other Memorial Day Services include:

**Steward: A parade of flags and flowers will start at around noon in front of the United Methodist Church and proceed to the Steward Cemetery. They will pause at the Memorial in front of the elementary school.

**White Rock Cemetery: South Church Road in Kings
**Service begins at 9:30. Guest speaker will be John Roe, a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S.
Army.

**Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston: Service begins at 10AM
**In case of rain, the service will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Creston

**Oregon: Wreaths will be place at the military monuments at the Ogle County Courthouse at 9:30. The parade then begins and ends at the Riverside Cementery in Oregon. A potluck lunch follows the service at the VFW on Washington Street.

Services will also be held in Ashton, Franklin Grove, Forreston, along with Mt. Morris and Polo.

**Roberts Armory World War II museum will be open on Memorial Day from 1 until 4. Follow the signs on the Army truck at Illinois 251 and Intermodal Drive in Rochelle to get to the museum.
