One of Northern Illinois’ premier summer music and family festivals – ByronFest – will offer big-name entertainment and exciting activities for the entire family July 14, 15 & 16, 2017. Sponsored by the Byron Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by Byron Bank, this community carnival and music fest is staged in historic downtown Byron just one block north of scenic Illinois Route 2. From gospel to country to rock & roll, ByronFest offers something for every musical taste and entrance to every stage is free with a general admission wristband!
In addition, the festival provides an opportunity for many not-for-profit organizations to raise funds for various projects. During the past thirty years, ByronFest has helped local charitable groups raise over $700,000 dollars. These organizations have in turn used the funds for community improvements and programs throughout the area.
The festival weekend kicks off Thursday, July 13 with GospelFest held at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center, 811 W. Second St. The festival officially opens at 5 p.m. Friday, July 14, with economically priced games and rides, Taste of ByronFest that will feature several food vendors down 2nd Street and live entertainment on two stages all weekend. Athletic events begin Saturday morning with a 5K run and bags tournament.
History buffs should not miss the judged Quilt Show, held in the Byron Museum of History, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Festival grounds open at 11a.m. on Saturday featuring more food, a magician, live music and fun until midnight. New this year we will have a vendor show on festival grounds Saturday only from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. If you would like to be a vendor contact the Byron Chamber for more information or to get an application.
The fest begins again Sunday when the festival gates open at 11 a.m. The ByronFest Parade steps off on Third Street at 2 p.m. just one block north of the business district. New on Sunday this year…ByronFest Open at PrairieView Golf Course. More details coming soon.
Wristbands guarantee admission into the festival area, but are not required for admittance to the carnival midway or quilt show. Advance wristbands are sold at numerous businesses. We REDUCED the advance wristband price to ONLY $5.00 prior to noon on Friday, July 14. Wristbands purchased at the gate are $8 each. Children 7 and under are admitted free! Sunday is Family Day – no wristband required! Don’t miss out on all the ByronFest music and entertainment this year! There will be a variety of bands performing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at both the Carnival and Festival Stages. This year we are excited to have Dylan Scott join us Saturday night on the Exelon Carnival Stage. Watch our website and Facebook for updates on who will be performing at ByronFest 2017.
